Meatloaf Recipe

Ingredients

For the Meatloaf:

  • 1 1/2 pounds ground beef (a mix of beef and turkey can be used as a healthier alternative)
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • Salt and pepper to taste

For the Glaze:

  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, beaten eggs, chopped onion, minced garlic, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, dried oregano, dried thyme, salt, and pepper.
  3. Mix the ingredients thoroughly, but avoid overmixing to keep the meatloaf tender.
  4. Transfer the meat mixture to a greased or parchment-lined baking dish and shape it into a loaf shape, ensuring it’s evenly distributed.
  5. In a small bowl, whisk together the ketchup, brown sugar, and Dijon mustard to create the glaze.
  6. Brush the glaze evenly over the top of the meatloaf. This adds a flavorful and slightly sweet layer to the meatloaf while baking.
  7. Place the meatloaf in the preheated oven and bake for approximately 1 hour or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C). Cooking times may vary, so it’s recommended to use a meat thermometer to ensure doneness.
  8. Allow the meatloaf to rest for a few minutes before slicing. This helps the juices redistribute, keeping the meatloaf moist.
  9. Slice the meatloaf into thick slices and serve with your favorite side dishes.
  10. Enjoy!
